The Lacecap tee was inspired by the simple textures of hydrangea flowers. I also wanted to create a tee that was fun, easy, and quick to knit that is perfect for all levels of knitters. This tee is perfect for wear between seasons, as it uses thicker yarn but also features a more open V-neckline and open short sleeves.
This tee is knit from the bottom up in the round, then after the underarm split it is worked flat back and forth. It uses techniques like provisional cast-ons, three needle bind offs, and picking up stitches. Simple lace textures are featured throughout as well as soft 2 color stripes - which are simple to knit since only one color is used in every round. This tee is a relatively quick knit due to the larger semi-open gauge and short sleeves.

Sizes
- 1 (2, 3, 4, 5){6, 7, 8, 9} Finished garment bust circumferences: 33 (37, 41, 45, 49){53, 57, 61, 65}” /
84 (94, 104, 114.3, 124.5){134.6, 144.8, 155, 165}cm

  • Choose your size to match your desired garment bust circumference. This pattern is suggested to be worn with 3”-5”/00-00cm of positive ease. Meaning the bust measurement of the garment is 3”-5” larger than your body measurement.
  • Schematic included for garment measurements.
  • Sample shown in size 2 - model has 34” bust.

Yarn

  • I recommend using a DK/Worsted weight yarn or Nutiden yarn held double for this design, or you could even use a sport weight yarn held with a lace weight yarn in two colors.
  • Sample uses Honer Och Eir - Nutiden Yarn: 100% Wool in colorways Flisselin and Liv. approx. 135 (150, 170, 185, 200){215, 235, 250, 270}grams needed for MC (sample uses Nutiden Flisselin). approx. 45 (50, 57, 65, 70){75, 80, 85, 90}grams needed for CC (sample uses Nutiden Liv).
  • Please note, every colorway of Nutiden is created differently and therfore contains different fiber types, so it is very difficult to predict exactly how much yarn you will need. I always suggest purchasing more than you think you will need all at once as Honer Och Eir only produces one batch of any given colorway.

Needles

  • 22” / 56cm US 8 / 5.0mm circular needles for ribbing sections
  • 30” / 76cm US 9 / 5.5mm circular needles for body and sleeves fabric
  • One US 10 / 6.0mm for shoulder three needle bind off
  • The sizes above are only a suggestion. Choose needle size to obtain the correct gauge.

Gauge

  • 16 stitches and 24 rounds in 4”/10cm in Stockinette Stitch, using the needle for the body fabric, blocked and dried.
  • Note: Choose your needle size in order to achieve the gauge described above. If you need to size up or down, make sure to size up or down the same amount for the other two sizes of needles required.

Notions

  • 3 lengths of scrap yarn (for provisional cast on and holding stitches)
  • crochet hook for provisional cast on
  • stitch markers
  • recommended: row counter - tapestry needle for weaving in ends
