Both the colors and the patterns of this project reflect my home in autumn when the fields are golden and the lake a deep blue and the and the landscape becomes highly textured with rows of dry cornstalks and ripened seed pods.
The wrap itself is an interesting knit. Patterns and colors change and repeat, but are easy to memorize and are compatible with social knitting. Since the wrap is knit as a long rectangle, sewn to slip over the shoulders. No shaping is required. The result is a one size garment measuring 60” around the shoulders. Adjustments are achieved by adding or subtracting a pattern repeat as advised in the written pattern.
Yarn used included two different colored solids and a variegated. Weight of the solids equaled a DK while the variegated was a sock weight. The wrap is knit on a size 6 US needle, either straight needles or circular and is knit flat.
This project is suitable for an adventurous novice. It includes eyelets, colorwork using slipped stitches, and a cable.
