Being near water, whether the Pacific Ocean
from the California coast, or the lakes of
Minnesota, has always brought me peace. I
spend a lot of time at the lake I live nearby,
whether it’s a morning walk along the lake path
with my coffee and a podcast, stand up paddle
boarding with my son on the front of the board,
or enjoying a family dinner on our boat. This
pattern is named after the Lakeaires
neighborhood in my city.

Finding creative ways to use my yarn scraps
has always been a fun challenge for me. I strive
to be a sustainable handmade business and
not wasting materials is important to me. My
most popular pattern (the Sunrise Hat) was
created as a means to use leftover yarn from
making hats.

My friend Kayla from Wildflower Knits has an
incredible talent for spinning yarn. She offered
to take some of my yarn scraps and spin them
into a new skein. The result was a gorgeous
skein of hand spun, thick-and-thin yarn, whose
colors were SO me! I created this pattern to use
that special skein Kayla made for me. You can

You will need 50-60 yards super bulky hand spun yarn for this pattern. Please note this pattern was designed for super bulky handspun yarn, not for regular standard super bulky yarns - if using these yarns, you’ll really need to check your gauge and needle size. Knit Collage yarns are a good substitute.
