Lapyx is a Greek god of the Northwest Wind.

This very warm and cozy hat has a double layer color-work brim with a stylized swirling colorwork pattern to protect you from raging winds! Lapyx can be knit with worsted weight yarn or with sport-weight yarn held double.

The hat begins with a stockinette brim that lines the stranded colorwork. As the stranded floats are covered by the inner brim, there is no need to worry about trapping the floats as you knit. The well-fitting crown is shaped using centered doubled decreases for a polished look.

A larger size hat (22-24”; 56-61 cm) can be made by using Aran weight yarn and sizes 8 and 9 (5.0, 5.5 mm) needles. For a smaller size (18-20”, 46-51cm) use worsted or light worsted and size 6 and 7 (4.0, 4.5mm) needles.

The stranded colorwork brim has both written and charted instructions. Two charts are provided - one with the MC as a dark color / CC in light, and a second one with the colors inverted.

This design was inspired by the designs of TheInkyKnitter. I encourage you to check out their fabulous hats as well.

Thank you to BRGillas, krayolakris, sandyvar, LongmontKathy and wahooguru for testing!
