Latvia, oh Latvia is a stranded colorwork cowl that is knit in the round on a circular needle using worsted weight yarn with written instructions and a chart. Two highly contrasting colors are needed.

This colorwork cowl has a recognizeably Latvian motif known alternately as Mara’s Cross or the Cross of Crosses that shows up most commonly on Latvian knitted ethnographic mittens and embroidered national costumes though is sometimes used in other applications such as on billboards advertizing events. This is a quick knit that makes a striking cowl and a wonderful gift!

Help Latvia celebrate 100 years of independence through the coming year with celebrations commencing on November 18, 2017 to run through the 100 year anniversary on November 18, 2018.
