Lavender sunrise cardigan is a cropped straight cardigan with a round yoke, a high-low collar, with shorter straight sleeves, and a zipper. The front is a bit wider than the back, to give a little extra space to a women’s bust. It is knitted top down in one piece, all over in textured colourwork. The technique I use I call 3D-knitting, because colourwork and texture together seem like knitting in 3D. It is the same technique as the corrugated ribbing in traditional colourwork knitting. This, and the way the colours are combined, provides the special, interesting and lively look of the cardigan. The size of the cardigan on the photos is size 42.

I wrote the pattern in 10 sizes: 36-54. The languages are English and Dutch. Each size has its own yoke and edges. These you find in the colour charts for each size.

Difficulty level/techniques used: intermediate to experienced. I use the 3D-technique: purl and stockinette in one row. You need to know how to cast on, to knit (colourwork), to purl (colourwork), to knit corrugated ribbing (I use a techique that is similar to that) to bind off, to pick up stitches and make short rows (I provide also information about short rows).

Yarn used: BC Garn Bio Shetland/Holst supersoft, 100% wool.

Gauge: 6,75 stitches per inch, 27 st per 10 cm horizontal and about 28 rows per 10 cm vertical.

Needed: BC Garn Bio Shetland/Holst supersoft, circular needles size 3 and 6 (3,25 and 4 mm), or other sizes to get the gauge. Stitch markers, and a double divisible zipper.

Lavender sunrise cardigan is een kort, recht vest met een ronde pas, een hoog-laag kraagje, korte rechte mouwen en een ritssluiting. De voorkant is iets breder dan de achterkant, zodat er wat extra ruimte is voor de buste van vrouwen. Het is in één stuk van boven naar beneden gebreid, volledig in structuurkleurwerk. De techniek die ik gebruik noem ik 3D-breien, omdat het kleurwerk en de textuur samen lijken op breien in 3D. Het is dezelfde techniek als de geribbelde boord in traditioneel kleurwerkbreien. Dit, en de manier waarop de kleuren gecombineerd zijn, zorgt voor de bijzondere, interessante en levendige uitstraling van het vest. De maat van het vest op de foto’s is maat 42.

Ik heb het patroon in 10 maten geschreven: 36-54. De talen zijn Engels en Nederlands. Elke maat heeft zijn eigen pas en afwerking. Deze vind je in de kleurenkaarten voor elke maat.

Moeilijkheidsgraad/gebruikte technieken: gemiddeld tot ervaren. Ik gebruik de 3D-techniek: averecht en tricotsteek in één rij, net als bij corrugated ribbing. Je moet weten hoe je steken moet opzetten, breien (kleurwerk), averecht breien (kleurwerk), corrugated ribbing boordjes breien (ik gebruik een techniek die daarop lijkt), afkanten, steken opnemen en short rows maken (ik geef ook informatie over short rows).

Gebruikt garen: BC Garn Bio Shetland/Holst supersoft, 100% wol.

Stekenverhouding: 6,75 steken per inch, 27 steken per 10 cm horizontaal en ongeveer 28 naalden per 10 cm verticaal.

Benodigdheden: BC Garn Bio Shetland/Holst supersoft (zie hierboven: gebruikt garen), rondbreinaalden maat 3 en 6 (3,25 en 4 mm), of andere maten om de juiste steekverhouding te krijgen. Steekmarkeerders en een dubbel deelbare rits.
