Layer Cake Hat is a fun way to play with long striped yarn. Each stitch change begins with a color change. Stockinette separates each change, which allows for some fudging if the colors do not change where you like. Alternatively, you can use long scraps of yarn and cut them where you like.

Size
Small 13 - 23 in (33 – 58 cm) unstretched and stretched ribbing
Medium 18 - 24 in (46 - 61 cm) unstretched and stretched ribbing
Large 19 - 26 in (48 – 66 cm) unstretched and stretched ribbing
Height: approximately 8 in (20 cm), very adjustable
The size can be adjusted by increasing or decreasing the cast on amount (12 st per section) or knitting each section as long as you like.

Gauge
8 st and 10 rows in 2 inches (5 cm) of stockinette
