For those of us who have experienced commitments issues when it comes to knitting, the Low Commitment (L.C.) Beanie might just be the perfect hat project! 



Start off with only 4 stitches. Then watch the hat grow on your needles with incredible speed. And the best part? You do not need to decide on the size, the length, or the style of brim, until you are good and ready. Heck, you don’t even need to commit to a colour if you go for the colour block marl option!
 So let’s just start knitting and see where it goes, shall we?

The pattern provides instructions in 3 yarn weights: Chunky, Aran, and DK. Also included is an explanation of how to create interesting marled colour block effects by holding together multiple strands of finer yarns.

for short brim option, one 100g skein should suffice
for fold-over brim option, Sizes 3-5 will require starting a second skein, except in DK weight where a single skein could suffice for Sizes 3&4. Please note that exact quantities depend on individual yarn characteristics!

NOTES ON STYLING

As shown in the photos, this beanie design can be worn either fitted, or slouched to various degrees. When worn fitted tightly around the top of the head, the crown appears to have a round shape. When worn slightly loosely, the hat appears to have a squarish flat-top style of crown. When loosened more dramatically, the hat resembles a typical slouchy beanie.

NOTES ON YARN SELECTION

Although the pattern offers instructions in several yarn weights, in my opinion this hat is at its best when knitted in chunky weight.

If you do not already have chunky yarn, this yarn weight can be achieved by holding together 3 strands of fingering-sport weight yarns. For a solid colour beanie, use all 3 strands in the same colour. Or for a unique marled effect, each strand can be a different colour.
