This scarf is inspired by the character of Leana, from the book Thorn in My Heart by Liz Curtis Higgs. Leana’s husband, Jamie, describes her as “fashioned in gold and blue, the colors of the sky.” When I found this gold and blue yarn, the image of this scarf immediately came into my mind. Made of squishy acrylic yarn, this scarf is like Leana: soft, warm, and comforting. The V-stitch lace pattern of the blue segments is delicate and gentle, and the solid shell pattern of the gold segments add a dash of something unexpected, as the other characters find to be true of Leana as well. I find myself wearing this scarf all the time; wrapping it around my neck or shoulders makes me feel warm and secure, like a grown-up blankie. The gold fringe around the bottom gives it a little flair.
