Leath, meaning a period of rest in old english, captures the feeling of respite in a garment - just as calming to knit as it is to wear. The all over brioche and top down construction creates a rythmn as you knit which becomes very relaxing. The yarn and stitch combination creates an airy - very squishy fabric that traps the perfect amount of warmth. Simple, elegant finishes take this garment from being purely cozy to a bit more elevated.
The Leath cardigan is worked top down, flat for the main body and in the round for the sleeves. Saddle shoulders create a great fit - almost like a set in sleeve, but without all the extra work. One color brioche with a fingering and lace weight yarn held together becomes a meditative motion and the garment seems to fly off the needles! Finally, the double knit button band is worked at the end by picking up stitches around the front edges of the garment.

• Choose your size to match your desired garment bust circumference. This pattern is suggested to be worn with 6”- 8” / 15 - 20cm of positive ease. Meaning the circumference of the garment is 6”- 8” / 15 - 20cm larger than your bust circumference.

• 4.5mm / US 7 24 inch and 9 inch circular needles for main fabric.
• 3.75mm / US 5 24 inch and 9 inch circular needles for sleeve cuffs.
• 2.5mm / US 1.5 24 inch circular needles for button band. or needle sizes required to obtain gauge

Gauge

• 13 stitches and 38 rows in 4”/10cm in brioche main fabric.
• 27 stitches and 32 rows in 4”/10cm in double knit stockinette button band fabric. (the lace weight yarn is held double for this only -no Nutiden)
