The Licorice sweater is designed for a comfortable oversized look. It’s incredibly warm and elegant. You can choose between three different collars: flat, high turtleneck, or folded collar. The cashmere yarn lends a very soft, draped, and luxurious look.
The touch of scrap yarn inserts in contrasting colors makes each piece unique.
Suitable for a classic and elegant look, as a casual everyday sweater.

  • 2 spare cords or leftover yarn
  • tapestry needle
  • scissors

Technique skills required:

  • Top-Down, Raglan construction
  • Tubular Italian Cast-On
  • German Short Rows
  • Kfb Increases
  • Italian Bind-Off
  • Backwards Loop Cast-On
  • Sew a Folded Neckline / Join a Folded Neckband
  • Duplicate Stitch Embroidery / Yarn Inserts

Raglan Construction Method:
The Licorice Sweater is an oversized, Top-Down Raglan Sweater worked in the round.
You can choose a Flat Collar/Turtleneck or a Folded Collar.
The collar is knit together with the yoke. The Neckline Shape is worked using the German Short Row Technique.

  • Cast on for the neck collar.
  • Work the neckline shaping using the German Short Row Technique.
  • Work the raglan shaping in the round until you reach the required circumference and armhole depth.
  • Split for the body and sleeves, casting on additional stitches at the underarm.
  • Work each in the round, incorporating any shaping until you reach the required length.

The placement of your scrap yarn is purely optional and I’d like to leave to your own creativity and taste. I don’t give instructions about this because I would like you to choose, if-where-when-how much yarn to add to your creation. I made mine while I was working, deciding when and what to add using Scrap Yarn Knots (Tutorial in the Pattern). Just have fun.
You can also leave your creation without color placement or if you want to mimic the sample, you can find the Freehand Embroidery Chart (Chart in the Pattern).

The black with white insert Licorice Sweater is knitted in cashmere-merino-mohair recycled yarn.

The petrol-green Licorice Sweater is knitted in Copenhagen Fibers baby alpaca blend, n. 25 and n. 30 held together.

This pattern has been tech-edited and tested. If you come across any errors or odd parts, you are more than welcome to let me know so that I can offer the best possible version. Thank you!!
