The lightweight fabric of this hat is great for the beginning of the rainy season to keep little ones warm without being too hot. 
It’s a great essential for car rides and under the hood of a rain jacket.
The earflaps cover their ears, and the hat stays in place. 
 This hat is made from superfine (1) weight yarn. Soft sock yarn works great for this project. 
The hat is started working in the round bottom up with earflaps worked as short rows. Then work is continued with a pattern (available as a chart or written instructions) in the round. Ties are completed as i-cord after the hat is finished.

Pattern is written for sizes:
Preemie: head circumference 11” / 28 cm
0-3 mo: head circumference 13 ¾“ / 35 cm
3-6 mo: head circumference 17 ¼” / 42- 44 cm
6-12 mo: head circumference 18 ½” / 47 cm
12-24 mo: head circumference 19 ¼” / 49 cm
2-4 yo: head circumference 19 ¾” / 50 cm
4-7 yo: head circumference 20 ½” / 52 cm.

Needles and Notions:

  • One 16” or 9” circular needle and one set of double-pointed needles (DPNs) in size needed to obtain gauge listed. Suggested Size: 2.75 mm (US 2).
  • Stitch markers, Tapestry needle.
