The pattern evokes layers of deposited limestone, crystallizing in caves to form stalactites and stalagmites.

The size is adjustable by knitting more or less repeats, with the possibility to go on and on until the yarn runs out.
Size also depends on the yarn and needles used, fine lace, lace or fingering yarn.

There is no line by line description, only charts.

The RS rows are patterned and charted, the WS rows are completely purled except for the 3 edge stitches left and right, which are always knitted.

The white shawl is knitted with 570 meter (623 yards) of fine lace yarn with needle size 3 mm, measuring 145 x 59 cm (57” x 22”).
The purple shawl is knitted with 1200 meter (1312 yards) of lace yarn with needle size 3,5 mm and 4 mm, measuring 185 x 90 cm (73” x 35”).

The pattern includes a small and a large border, in white or a gradient.
