Think twined knitting might be a bit too much for you? Don’t worry - there is an ebook with a comprehensive photo tutorial as well as patterns for all three twined knitting hats in the Woolyn series, Doelger, Linden and Rheingold.

Knit in two colors with the Tvåändsstickning or twined knitting technique the Linden Hat is a cozy and squishy hat that will keep your ears warm all winter long.

Less common than other fair isle or stranded knitting techniques, twined knitting creates a dense, thick fabric by twisting the yarns between every stitch. Pick 2 colors that will pop against each other for best effect!

The Linden Hat is a fun first foray into twined knitting. Comprising of only two stitch patterns; regular twined knitting and a simple Hook Stitch Square, the hat works up quickly as you gain familiarity with the technique. The hat is fully charted.

Note on Gauge: Expect to get a different gauge for two-end twined knitting than for standard stockinette done with a single strand. For reference, single strand stockinette gauge is 17.5 sts and 22 rows = 4”/10cm.

CORRECTION - There is a typo in the explanation for the Hook Stitch with C2 - it should read P1 with C2, keeping C2 in front, k1 with C1, p1 with C2. It is updated in the new PDF as of 2/5/16 at 9am EST.

Many thanks to Dry Dock Wine & Spirits in Red Hook, Brooklyn for allowing us to do an impromptu photo shoot!
