You may be surprised to find out that this scarf is a variation of Tricorner (see page 108) because the two scarves look very different. Both use the same techniques of Rib Division (separating the knits from the purls on two different needles and working them separately) and Combine Stitches (putting those same stitches back onto one needle later). However, for Linked Rib, stitches are combined into flanges offset by five stitches from the previous flange; for Tricorner they are always lined up to match the previous flange. The unconventional way of working ribbing in rounds may seem challenging because of its novelty: You knit in and out on flanges instead of knitting an open circular tube. But I think you’ll find it’s easy once you review the instructional photos on page 59 and get started.
