About the design

The Lipsuga Sweater is designed to have wide saddle shoulders extending to a sideways knitted panel across the back, with i-cord ties gently pulling in the corners of the panel with tied bow details over the shoulders.

First, the back and shoulder panels are knitted sideways from the middle of the back outward to both sides. Then, the stitches are picked up around the panel and knitted back and forth, making increases for the front neckline and for sleeves. The yoke will be worked in the round making continuous increases for the sleeves and for the body. The body and the sleeves are then worked in the round, ending with 1x1 ribbing. The collar is knitted in the round from stitches picked up from the neck edge in 1x1 ribbing and then folded in. The shoulder ties are knitted from stitches picked up right under the shoulder panels, as 3 stitch i-cord ties.

The word “lipsuga” means “with a bow” in Estonian, which is my native language and it felt like the best name for this design.
