Lisbeth Dickey
The Lisbeth Dickey features soft “leaves” that gently spread around the shoulders before they merge into a squishy turtleneck. Let the neck warmer curiously peak out from under a coat or wear it layered as an eye-catching accessory.
Lisbeth is a beginner-friendly project for combining different crafts: Pin-loom weave the jewel-shaped “leaves”, then pick up stitches and knit the neck portion of the dickey.
The pin-loom woven pieces provide the perfect foundation for weave-knitting: Cast-on by picking up stitches along the edges of the pin-loom woven pieces.
This project requires little to no sewing or assembly.
One skein of HHF Merino Aran is sufficient to make the cowl shown above. The pattern also includes information for using two colors to add interesting stripe effects.
The dickey comes in three sizes, small to large, 20” to 24” circumference. The size can be easily adjusted by using more/fewer pin-loom woven pieces to determine the width and more/fewer knitted rounds for the length.
The weaving is done on an Original TURTLE Jewel pin-loom that needs to be acquired separately. It is available on Etsy at Bluebonnet Crafters.
Special thanks go to photographer Gale Zucker, for her amazing photography and the inspiring styling ideas, and to model Sarah Shourds whose smiles make this neck warmer a must-make project.
