♫ The Music ♫
The Humours of Lisheen is a traditional Irish jig; its bouncy tune evokes images of ceilidh dancing and kitchen parties where dancing is always on the menu. The interweaving of the dance moves always bring cable knitting to mind.

Size
Finished circumference: 17.5 (20, 22.5)” / 44.5 (51, 57)cm.
Height: 8 (8.5, 9)” / 20.5 (21.5, 23)cm.

A challenging cable project with closed-ring cables, this hat begins at the brim with a tubular cast on. Once the cable portion is complete, the crown is worked in Stockinette stitch.

Stitch pattern is charted only. A Helpful Links section is included in the pattern for further tutorials on the internet.

Yarn
180 (200, 225)yds / 165 (183, 206)m fingering / sock yarn.

Sample shown in: Knit Picks Stroll (fingering; 75% superwash Merino wool, 25% nylon; 231yds per 50g) in Pumpkin 23699.

Needles
2.5mm / US1.5 needle(s) for small circumference knitting or size required to obtain gauge.
3mm / US3 circular needle 32” / 80cm or longer for tubular cast on or two sizes larger than gauge needle.

Gauge
Gauge Note: Stitches are increased over the Lisheen Cable Pattern but, at the same time, more cables are crossed so the gauge of each horizontal Lisheen Cable Pattern repeat measures 1.25”/ 3cm consistently, whether it is a 14 or 18-st repeat.

32 sts and 44 rows = 4” / 10cm in Stockinette stitch in the round, blocked, using gauge needle.

14-18 sts = 1.25” / 3cm and 24 rows = 2.25” / 5.5cm in Lisheen Cable Pattern in the round, blocked, using gauge needle.

Notions
2 Cable needles, stitch markers, tapestry needle.
