This little pullover was designed for my nephew, a miracle baby whose continued success has been a source of joy for everyone around him and evidence of wishes come true. Ósk is Icelandic for “wish”, bringing together the Icelandic influences in my knitting and our hopes + wishes for the new year.

Description

This sweater is a quick knit and a great intro to colorwork for beginner- intermediate knitters. It features a bottom-up construction, knit in the round with sleeves knitted separately and joined at the yoke. The colorwork is based on classic Scandinavian motifs, and the neckline can be done in a rolled edge for a more modern look, or a ribbed crew neck for a more classic look. Pattern includes instructions for both.

These run large with plenty of room to grow. For a more fitted look, size down or consider shortening the body + sleeve lengths.

Materials:

Suggested Yarn: Treasure Goddess Yarn Worsted (218 yards/skein) and Farmer’s Daughter Fibers Squish Worsted (218 yards/ skein). Main color: 1 (2, 2, 2, 3, 3, 3) skeins. Contrast color: 1 skein.

Needles: Size 4 and 5 circular needles, size 4 and 5 straight needles. The circular needle length will depend on the size you’re knitting: select a cable length that is smaller than your expected finished circumference. A 16” or 24” should work for most of these sizes. You may also need to switch to double-pointed needles for the neckline decreases if you start with a larger cable.

Notions: 4 stitch markers, 4 stitch holders, needle for weaving in ends.
