The Little Squares Baby Blanket provides just enough texture to make it interesting to knit, and beautiful to use.

Finished size is 22” (width) x 28” (length) - a practical size for strollers and car seats.

Pattern includes clearly written instructions for a beautiful unisex baby blanket that is knit in one piece - with minimal finishing required.
Blanket consists of garter stitch squares, surrounded by stockinette stitch squares, and framed by garter stitch borders.
Although the blanket is not technically reversible, it is attractive on both sides.

Skills required include casting on, knitting, purling, and binding off.
This pattern is easy enough for newer knitters, but interesting enough for more experienced knitters.
Some experience working with textured (knits and purls) stitches will be helpful.

Required materials include 375-400 yards of chunky weight yarn, size 10.5 circular needles (24”-32” length), stitch markers, row counter and tapestry needle.

Recommended Gauge is 3.5 stitches = 1” in stockinette stitch.
Although the blanket is knit with textured stitches, gauge is provided in stockinette stitch, for ease in substituting yarns. Change needle size as necessary, to achieve correct gauge and/or a fabric that you like.
Since this is a blanket, exact gauge is not critical. It will, however, affect the finished size and amount of yarn used.

Sample was knit using 3 skeins of Berroco Vintage Chunky yarn, color #6197 (Neptune).

I hope that you’ll enjoy knitting and using this beautiful baby blanket, and please share photos for everyone to enjoy!
