Inspired by the holidays, these toe-up colorwork socks remind me of one of my favorite traditions of picking out our Christmas tree. Although holiday inspired, originally, these can be knit up any time of year for all of us who just love trees and the magic of the forest!

These are written as TOE-UP but if you’re an experienced sock knitter, you could easily adjust and knit them TOP-DOWN!

I include instructions for a toe-up version of a Heel Flap and Gusset heel but you could easily apply your favorite heel instead.

SAMPLE YARN
I used Madelinetosh Sock in the colorway Holi Festival for the main color and my own dyed Merino/nylon blend for the trees and heel.

SIZE
I would consider these a size Medium - US woman’s 8-8.5, but You can play with your needle size to play with your sock size or adjust the number of pattern repeats. The tree chart is divisible by 8 so for example, if making a smaller sock, you could use 64 stitches

GAUGE
Adjustable- depending on desired size / foot circumference
34 sts x 36 rnds 10 cm / 4” on needles 2.25 - 2.5 (size S/M)
32 sts x 34 rnds 10 cm / 4” on needles 2.5 - 3.0 (size M/L)
