What sounds better than dipping your toes in the cool Loch water of Ness during the high heat of Summer’s hottest days? While Nessie herself may not nibble your submerged toes this unusually constructed shawl by Kate Poe satisfies a need that you didn’t know existed, knitting that looks like lapping waves soothes while the sun shines.

On Holiday has eleven lovely designs that uses 1000 yards of yarn or less! Michelle is known for creating beautiful patterns that use only one skein of luxury yarn and continues with that theme in On Holiday and combines her talents with five other talented designers to bring you the types of projects you’ll want to knit on your summer holiday or for the holidays! These patterns were hand picked from the best of the Holiday Yarn Club over the years and combined into one book in time for your own holiday knitting.

There is something for every knitter in this collection. The book contains directions for mittens, socks, shawls, wraps, and a cowl. All patterns have thoroughly tested written instructions and charts where applicable.

Loch Ness is the deepest body of fresh water in Great Britain. Once you move away from the shore, the water is cold, very dark and very foreboding.

Within Loch Ness lives Nessie, the Loch Ness Monster. Nessie sightings have been recorded since the 6th century. The day we were there, the water was perfectly calm……Nessie never broke the surface, but there was this long suspicious bulge in the water.

The pattern cast on is rather involved, as you knit Nessie herself as you cast on.

Short rows are used to shape Nessie and to make the wave portion within the loch.

Also available as a kit through Holiday Yarns.

BEADING
Beads are completely optional and are placed randomly throughout the shawl. As such, bead placement is NOT indicated within the pattern. Beads may be placed on stitches, between stitches, on loops, etc.
