LOFOTEN Cod Fish Hat
LOFOTEN Cod Fish hat is named after the Norwegian Lofoten Islands, which are world famous for their cod fish. The LOFOTEN hat knitting pattern comes as a PDF with written instructions, charts and photos which you can download immediately after the payment. It prints onto A4 or US Letter paper. You will need a soft such as Adobe Reader to access it (see adobe.com).
This is easy level knitting pattern; the following skills are required: Cast on, Knit, Purl, Circular Knitting, Color Knitting, Bind off. All measurements are given in US and metric. Hat is knitted in one piece. Furthermore full pattern support is available by message or email.
SIZES:
Adult — 55–60 cm / 21½”–23½” circumference.
YARN: Any aran weight yarn. I used Léttlopi by Ístex yarn:
#0052 Black Sheep — 38 g / 83 yd,
#9427 Rust Heather — 12 g / 26 yd,
#1417 Frostbite — 10 g / 22 yd,
#9426 Golden — 10 g / 22 yd,
#1700 Air Blue — 8 g / 16 yd,
#1704 Apricot — 5 g / 11 yd,
#9418 Stone Blue — 5 g / 11 yd,
#1416 Moor — 3 g / 7 yd.
The yarn consumption is approximate—you will probably need less. You may also need 9 stitch markers.
GAUGE: 10 cm × 10 cm / 4” × 4” = 16 sts × 20 rows in stockinette stitch.
NEEDLES: Circular or double pointed needles 3.5 & 4.5 mm / US 4 & 7.
YARN: Léttlopi by Ístex (100% Icelandic wool)
YARN SUBSTITUTE: Malabrigo Rios (100% superwash merino wool), Malabrigo Worsted (100% Uruguayan merino wool), Mota by WoolDreamer’s Yarn (100% Spanish merino and manchega wool), Icelandic Wool by Novita, Cascade 220 by Cascade Yarns (100% wool), Valley Yarns Superwash by Valley Yarn (100% wool).
