The pattern uses garter stitch and stacked decreases/increases. There is no stranding - you work with just one color in every row.
You can knit anything rectangular: a scarf, or a wrap. For a scarf 170cm long, 3 X 50g of fingering-weight yarn skeins should be enough, but you might want to knit it longer so that it can be looped twice around the neck.
In addition to written instructions, the PDF has a coloring page (got pencils?), and a chart showing major structural elements of the pattern. The are two options for the bottom edge: straight or wavy.
I’d like to thank Marit (Mitt) for her tremendous help with editing and checking this pattern!
I have other patterns based on this techique: Stream, Coral Reef, and Snuflakes; check those out.
