Louhi Socks are knitted from the cuff down towards the toes. They are started with a provisional on and picot hem. Then the leg is started with a beautiful lace pattern, and then it continues with simple lace stripes. The heel flaps are knitted with a reinforced stitch pattern for durability and the heels are round French heels. The shorter version of the first lace pattern is used before the toe shaping.

Sizes: 1 (2). The difference in fit is achieved by changing the gauge, see below. Shown in size 1. Circumference 20 (21.5) cm. Length is adjustable.

Yarn:
Size 1: Fingering weight sock yarn such as Aara yarn, Lanitium ex Machina yarn, Novita Venla, Vonue Wilhelmi.
Size 2: Heavy fingering or sport weight sock yarn such as Tukuwool Sock or Novita Nalle.

Needles: 2.5 mm circular needles (or DPNS, if preferred), or the needle size which gives you the right gauge
Gauge:
Size 1: 30 sts in Stockinette stitch
Size 2: 28 sts in Stockinette stitch
Other Notions: crochet hook, waste yarn, spare needle, stitch markers, tools for blocking, darning needle, scissors, optional – bigger needle size for the first lace pattern (if you are a tight knitter or have a wider calf)
