Lounge Hat - A “Lounge Collection” Design - by SnailYarn

“I dreamed of a space where knitting follows the rhythm of our lives, rather than the pressure of a deadline.”

The Lounge Hat is the first chapter of a journey dedicated to absolute simplicity and comfort. Designed to be a “mindless” project, it’s the perfect companion for relaxing evenings, quiet moments, or chatting with friends.

DESIGN FEATURES

Pressure-Free: No traditional ribbing for maximum comfort.

Seamless: Worked in the round from the bottom up.

Zero Waste Concept: Designed to maximize a single 100g skein. By knitting the hat first, you can use the remaining yarn (approx. 30g for Size L) to create a matching headband.

Customizable: Easy to adjust the circumference by adding or subtracting multiples of 5 stitches.

SIZES
S (M, L)
To fit head circumference: 18-20 (21-22, 23-24)” / 46-51 (53-56, 58-61) cm.
The high stretch of stockinette combined with 4.5-6” (11-15 cm) of negative ease ensures a secure yet gentle fit.

DK WEIGHT VERSION (Current Release)

YARN

Lounge Hat (Only): 137 (158, 175) yds / 125 (145, 160) meters
Approx. 55 (65, 70) g

Lounge Headband (Only): 60 (68, 76) yds / 55 (62, 70) meters
Approx. 25 (27, 30) g

Suggested Yarn: SnailYarn Baby Alpaca + Merino DK (225m / 100g), shown in colorway “Nebbia”.

Yarn consumption notes:
Lounge Hat (Size L) used approx. 70g (160m / 175yds).
Lounge Headband (Size L) used approx. 30g (65m / 72yds).
Sizes S and M will require slightly less yarn (approx. 10-15% less per size).

Important Note for the Set (Size L):
The complete set (Hat + Headband) in Size L used up one entire 100g skein. To ensure you have enough yarn to knit both, I recommend knitting the Hat first. Any remaining yarn can then be used for the Headband.

GAUGE & NEEDLES

Gauge: 21 sts x 30 rows = 4” / 10 cm in Stockinette Stitch on larger needles.

Needles: 3.25 mm (US 3) for brim/headband and 3.75 mm (US 5) for body/crown.

NOTIONS
Tapestry needle, stitch marker.
