Lucky Dog Hat pattern (for Wilson)

This is a simple colorwork hat and is a super fun way to show some love for your 4-legged friends and add a little color to your life. It is a pretty quick knit with some all-around stranded colorwork! The pattern is written for DK but any substitution could work to achieve desired gauge. Use your Imagination, get creative and play around with ideas for contrast colors and combos! I was able to make 2 hats that are matching opposites by switching the Main Color and the Contrast Color for each hat. The sky is the limit with endless color possibilities… Have fun and enjoy your Hat!

This hat was designed for and gifted to our vet after caring for Wilson many years ago. The pattern has been living in my head and when we had another health scare with Wilson I decided it needed to become an official pattern. Thanks for all your love and support!!!

• Skill level: Advanced Beginner some colorwork experience
o Skills required – Knitting in the round, Decreasing, all over stranded-colorwork using a chart.
• Yarn: DK weight yarn (11wraps per inch) Sample show in Always Be Kind Yarn – Kaylan’s Rainbow Dreams and Cream DK yarn 75% Super wash Merino / 25% Nylon
o Any DK weight yarn to achieve desired gauge and size
• Approximately 120-160 yards Main color (MC) and Approx. 50-75 yards for the Contrast color (CC)
o Total yardage 170-235
• Needles: Size 6 US (4mm) for the ribbing and Size 7 US (4.5mm) for the hat
o Gauge: 21 sts / 26 rows per 4 inches
• Adult size Small (Medium, Large, XL, XXL)
o Cast on: 72 (84, 96, 108, 120) samples size M/L
• Finished sizes:
Small 14-15 in / Medium 15-17 in / Large 17-18.5 inches
XL 18.5-20 inches / XXL 20-22 inches
