“Lucky Dots” is a deceptively simple project. Super special looking, but super easy to knit. Worked flat, seamlessly, with a simple knitted-on edge and absolutely zero complicated stranded colorwork.

I have been asked for details about the stranded colorwork in this project, but it literally does not involve any - no Fair Isle, no intarsia, no floats, no bobbins. This is technically called “mosaic knitting,” and fortunately, it doesn’t require any special knitting skills. It is a spectacularly dressed-up version of a simple, striped blanket: start with the stripes, slip a few stitches, and here and there, make a simple cable. Done!

Yarns:
Any worsted weight yarn will work well for this project

  • Main Color (MC): 900 yds (823 m) worsted (MC shown in cream)
  • Contrasting Color (CC): 600 yds (549 m) worsted (CC shown in rose)

The projects pictured were knitted with Madelinetosh Vintage (“Antler” MC and “Posy” CC), and Berroco Vintage (“Aubergine” MC and “Petals” CC), however, any worsted weight yarn will work up nicely in this pattern.

Final Size: 32 in x 42 in (81 cm x 107 cm)
