The Lumen socks are knitted top-down. Over a solid background color, colorful stripes overlap. The result is a captivating graphic effect creating an illusion of transparency, making the color appear to intensify. The overlapping stripes gradually shift, giving a wave-like effect to the color.

The pattern begins with a 1x1 ribbed cuff, followed by the leg worked in stranded colorwork. After the leg, the instep stitches are held to shape a reinforced heel flap, before resuming working in the round and incorporating the colorwork pattern on the foot down to the toes. The toe is closed using Kitchener stitch for a neat and comfortable finish.
