LUMINANCE
A triangular lace shawl

A sweeping triangle of yarn-over lace and C4F cable, worked from the tip upward in fingering-weight wool, that opens into a luminous, draped shawl after blocking.

Wear it spread across the shoulders as a classic shawl, wrapped and knotted at the front, or folded into a wide scarf. The sample is shown in DROPS Fabel “Off White”.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
175 × 100 cm / 68¾ × 39¼ inches (width × depth), after wet blocking

YARN
190 g / 780 m (853 yards) of fingering-weight wool. Sample uses DROPS Fabel (75% wool / 25% polyamide, 50 g = 205 m) in Off White. Purchase 4 skeins / 200 g to allow for tension variation. Any fingering yarn with a matching gauge will substitute.

GAUGE
10 sts × 20 rows = 6 × 7 cm in lace and cable pattern on 4.5 mm needles, after wet blocking. Tension matters more than needle size — I knit tightly and most knitters will need to go down to 4 mm or 3.5 mm to match gauge.

NEEDLES
4.5 mm (US 7) circular, 60 cm, worked flat.

Cable needle, tapestry needle, blocking pins or wires.
