The top has a slightly oversized fit and is designed with a positive ease. This means that the finished garment measures 12–16 cm larger in bust circumference than the actual body measurement. If you are between sizes, or simply prefer a different look, you can choose to size up for a looser fit or size down for a more close-fitting silhouette. The stated measurements are body measurements.

About this pattern:
The Madeira Top is worked from the top down. First, the back piece is worked flat in two separate sections, which are later joined using a backward loop cast-on at the neckline. While the back stitches are placed on hold, stitches are picked up along the shoulders, and the front pieces are worked separately from the shoulder seams. The two front pieces are first joined on the needle together with the back piece stitches, after which stitches are cast on beneath the neckline opening. The work is now joined, and the body is worked in the round to the desired length. A decrease round is then worked before finishing with a wide rib edge. Next, stitches are picked up along the neckline and worked in the round in ribbing. Finally, stitches are picked up around the armholes and finished with a neat double knitting edge, which is sewn together under the arm.
