The Maelstrom Cable Cowl Knitting pattern is a good project for the beginner knitter wishing to learn a new technique such as cables. The main body of the cowl is knit in stocking stitch (stockinette) and there is a twisting rib hem. The variegated colours of the West Yorkshire Spinners Retreat Twist chunky yarn work well with the pattern but other chunky (bulky-weight) yarns could be used instead. A quick, ‘one ball’ knit, the project can be completed in a day.
