Digital knitting pattern for a DIY handknit cowl only. One pdf download only.

The Maeve Sweater Cowl pattern is a fun and rhythmic knit that is perfect for a quick cowl to wear under your favorite jacket or coat! It looks like a sweater but without all the bulk, keeping you cozy and warm around your neck when you need it most. Make it in bulky or super bulky weight and wear it depending on the weather. No doubt, you will want to make both!

Intermediate-level pattern is written in US terms (English).

This one-size-fits-most pattern is designed for intermediate knitters and can be easily adjusted for size by using lighter weight yarn and smaller needles. Pattern is knit in the round from the neck down, with raglan increases for the shoulders and then dividing into front and back sections that are worked flat and separately. A perimeter border in purl stitches completes the project. The set-up rounds require some concentration but after that it goes quickly. It employs left or right cross stitches (1x1 cables) that work up quickly for wonderful texture and style in an otherwise simple stocking stitch cowl with a mock or full turtleneck - your choice! And you can work cables without a cable needle, with video tutorials included to show you how.

Materials:
Super Bulky yarn (recommend Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick & Quick) with size US 11/13 (8/9 mm) circular needles, 16”/40 cm and 24”/60 cm cords, mock turtleneck - 125 yds (115 m), full turtleneck - 135 yds (124 m).
Bulky yarn (recommend Malabrigo Chunky) with size US 10.5/11 (6.5/8 mm) circular needles, 16”/40 cm and 24”/60 cm cords, mock turtleneck - 130 yds (119 m), full turtleneck - 146 yds (134 m).
Many other brands will work - just be sure to confirm gauge with a test swatch before beginning.
