Welcome to Magnolia, the next neighborhood we’ll visit in our Seattle Sock Series Magnolia was named completely by accident, with the US Coast Survey of 1856 thinking the Madrona trees that covered the area were actually Magnolia trees. The neighborhood is surrounded by water on three sides, with Elliot Bay to the south, Puget Sound to the West, and Salmon Bay and Shilshole Bay to the north. Although most of Magnolia is residential neighborhoods and “The Village,” Discovery Park is a key feature of the area. Discovery Park is Seattle’s largest park and features West Point Lighthouse which was built in 1881 and is the oldest lighthouse in Washington State!

I’d love to see your completed socks! Please use #MagnoliaSocks or #SeattleSockSeries when posting your work on instagram. You can also tag me @gooseandghostknits or email me with questions at ashleygraceart@gmail.com
