The MAIAH Balaclava is part of the MAIAH series which came into existence along with my first baby boy. As he learned to speak, he would call himself “Maiah”. The balaclava has become a winter essential which serves as hat and scarf, all in one. We love it because it keeps ears, face and neck warm and it is easily slipped on and off thanks to the elastic bind of technique used in this pattern.

It is worked from the top down in garter stitch. The crown and body of the hat are worked back and forth on circular needles, the work is then joined in order to work the collar in the round. Stitches are picked up in order to work the 1 x 1 rib edge along the face opening.
