As the weather dips and the snow falls, the season for ponchos has arrived. Keeping things simple, this warm layer starts like a cowl to wrap around your shoulders before opening up with a seed stitch border at the opening and the bottom.

Ponchos generally come in a one size fits all and with knits being very stretchy, the overall sizes are less critical. The two sizes are determined like this, if you like a somewhat fitted poncho that you could wear while knitting or at a sporting event, choose the s/m. The l/xl is for those who prefer things a bit looser. If you buy clothing in plus sizes or have a circumference larger than 46”, consider the l/xl. You can work more increases for all sizes, just stick to the increase pattern!

The stockinette base lends itself to a busy yarn or keep it plain to show your fabulous knitting skills.
