Manhattan Cardigan
Instructions are given for this raglan cardigan in four sizes 2-3, 3-4, 4-5 and 5-6 years. The generously proportioned cardigan is knitted in a very simple six-row pattern using knit and purl stitches. The cardigan can be completed in a single colour or, if you want to make a statement use a contrast colour and create stripes.
Instructions are given to knit the ribbed sleeve cuffs longer and start with the cuffs turned up. As your little one grows you can turn the cuffs down, meaning your cardigan will grow with your child.
Stripe version – the contrast colour is worked here on rows 1 and 2 of the six-row Manhattan pattern. You can arrange the stripes as you wish. I stopped using the contrast colour the row before the raglan shaping was started. Knitting this stripe pattern, you will need one ball of contrast colour for the first two sizes. For the bigger sizes or to make more stripes, you will need another ball of contrast yarn.
Yarn used was 100% cotton 170m per ball
2-3 years takes 4 balls, 3-4 years takes 5 balls and sizes 4-5 and 5-6 years take 6 balls.
