Manta Shawl
Designed by Libby Rush for Knit for Wildlife.
Whilst mantas are more curious closer to the shore, they tend to stay away from humans. By knitting this shawl, you can get close to one – at least a knitted one! Who doesn’t want a warm hug from a beautiful manta ray?
This shawl is knitted flat in garter stitch with an i-cord edging. The hood is optional and is knitted separately and joined seamlessly to the shawl.
Sample with hood was worked with 4 balls of Stylecraft ReCreate (40% Wool, 30% Acrylic, 30% Polyester; 350m per 100g ball) in the colour 1943b‘Smoke’. You should expect to use 3 balls of Stylecraft ReCreate if you choose not to add a hood. Alternatively, substitute DK weight yarn of equivalent yardage. It’s better to use a smooth yarn, but you can experiment!
