Marcel Cowl
The Roaring Twenties were a time of glamour and innovation, impacting everything from design to music, and Art Deco was the style of choice. The name is short for arts décoratifs, and was used in furniture, textiles, jewelry, fashion, architecture and graphic design. Combining bold geometric forms with expensive materials and exquisite craftsmanship, it was used for skyscrapers, cinemas and streamliners, showcasing the modern design forms of the era. This pattern was inspired by the grille work often used in architectural design. My daughter and I had hoped to do a collection of Art Deco designs to celebrate the return of the Twenties, and while this year hasn’t turned out as expected we are hopeful that happy days are still ahead.
These patterns start at the bottom and with one chart work through the bottom ribbing, colorwork and top ribbing. I hope you find it an entertaining and fun knit.
