I tried to create a butterfly pattern that showed the movement of butterflies as well as their beauty. This design is created to allow the beautiful colours of yarn create the pattern on the butterfly and can change with every version you make depending on your yarn choice.

Size: Adult Medium

Gauge: 40sts x 44 rows = 4” over stranded work, knit in the round, after blocking

Yarn: Fingering Weight

I like to use variegated yarn, which gives the butterfly more ‘movement’. Make sure the colours have a big enough contrast or the details of the butterfly will be lost.

There are some long floats, so I would catch on every 3rd or 4th stitch.
