Twenty-two years ago, a wonderful lady taught me how to knit. Her name was Marion and she had the patience of a saint! She was an older woman that I knew from church and she offered a knitting class that I took. I can remember when I first started, knitting a simple diagonal dishcloth took FOREVER and I was holding on to those needles for dear life! She patiently guided me along and eventually I got the hang of it. Thank goodness she did! Knitting has been my constant companion through good times and bad. I’ve knitted my way through hours in waiting rooms, office meetings and coffee with friends.

This blanket started as a reversible dishcloth block pattern that Marion gave me to teach me how to purl. Over the years I changed it and turned it into a baby blanket pattern. I’ve knitted it several times in multiple yarn weights and needle sizes but return to worsted most often. Gauge doesn’t matter and swatches lie, so just find a needle that gives you the drape you like with the yarn you have! I’m recommending Lion Brand Pound of Love because I remember as a beginning knitter, weaving in ends was not how I wanted to spend my time. Those HUGE skeins are wonderful and come in a variety of colors. This blanket has the bonus of being highly adaptable and does not have holes for little finger and toes to get caught in! Finished size is approximately 28” x 38”.
