This shawl is inspired the day my husband and I got married. I hesitate to call it a wedding because it was so laid back – just the way we wanted it to be! My (now) husband and I had talked about getting married, but did not feel a traditional ceremony fit “us” and our relationship. We had decided to (eventually) elope. Flash forward, we were planning a hiking trip with our friends to Acadia National Park on Mountain Desert Island, Maine. I had one dress and one pair of shoes that went with the dress – my sandals! So, my husband and I, our four friends, and our photographer/officiant hiked a short trail to a place right next to the beach at sunset where we got married – both in sandals!

This pattern is inspired by little bits of the scenery from that day. The seed stitch to represent the pebbly beach and of course, the pattern of my sandals translated into lace.

This pattern is for a rectangular shawl with diagonal pattern sections. The pattern uses roughly 2 skeins of a fingering weight yarn. Gauge is not super important for this pattern.
