The Martha 2-in-1 Jacket is a timeless design with a deeply personal history.
Originally created over 25 years ago by my great-grandmother, the piece has been lovingly reworked and translated into a modern knitting pattern — one I myself wore as a child.

The design features a refined zip-off construction, allowing the sleeves to be removed and worn either as a classic cardigan or an elegant vest.

The Marta vest is worked from top to bottom. First, the back is knitted with increases for the armholes. Then stitches are picked up at the shoulders of the back and worked with increases for the neckline and armholes. The front and back pieces are joined after completing the increases and knitted until the desired length is reached. Finally, stitches are picked up along the edges for the button band, and bands are knitted for the neckline and armholes.
For those who want to turn the vest into a cardigan, two sleeves are worked afterward. These can then be attached using zippers, which are sewn onto the inner sides of the armhole bands.

FIT
The Martha vest/cardigan has a positive ease of approximately 8–10 cm.
Sizes 2XS (XS) S (M) L (XL) 2XL (3XL) 4XL correspond to a bust circumference of 75–80 (80–85) 85–90 (90–95) 95–100 (100–110) 110–120 (120–130) 130–140 cm.
