I’m so excited to share with you the Maxine Afghan, named after my Mamaw Maxine, my great grandmother who introduced me to crocheting.

This written pattern has detailed instructions, as well as lots of of images, tutorials, and tips to help you make it. You’ll also get a print-friendly version.

The pattern does not have a video tutorial; however, you can find a video of the first 8 rounds in my Facebook Group to help get you started.

Size:
My finished blanket measures 45 in. x 45 in.

Depending on your tension, yours may come out bigger or smaller, even if you use the stated yarn and hook size. To adjust the blanket’s size, you can change your tension, yarn weight, and/or hook size.

Difficulty: This pattern is rated as Intermediate/Advanced Intermediate. However, it is written with many helpful tips, tutorials, and photos to help you throughout.

Materials Needed:

  • DK yarn
  • 4mm hook
  • Scissors
  • Stitch markers
  • Yarn needle

Yarn:
All yarn used is Stylecraft Special DK.
Colorway 1:

  • Gold - 1 skein
  • Apricot - 1.25 skeins
  • Shrimp - 1.5 skeins
  • Sage - 1.75 skeins
  • Teal - 1.25 skeins
  • Parchment - 1.75 skeins
  • Denim - 2 skeins

Colorway 2:

  • Cream - 1 skein
  • Mushroom - 1.5 skeins
  • Pale Rose - 1.5 skeins
  • Grape - 1.5 skeins
  • Duck Egg - 1.5 skeins
  • Storm Blue - 1.5 skeins
  • Petrol - 1.5 skeins

This pattern uses many Special Stitches, Starting Stitches, & Standing Stitches. Detailed instructions are provided for all of them.
