I created a series of little “Doll Friends”. You may have spotted our little Ellie Doll, as well as Alice Doll (great for Alice in Wonderland fans). The third in this series, is my Maya Doll. Maya is a doll with Indian heritage and proudly wears a Sari! It was SO FUN to make this Sari and explore different color combinations and crochet stitches. I think you will love it too! You could even add some bead work your doll’s saree!

I have added Maya to the “Ellie & Friends ebook/ bundle” to allow you to try out all the hairstyles and clothes at a better price!

The four friends are a great crochet doll pattern for beginners, taking that next step in their crochet journey to becoming intermediate crocheters. To make the basic doll, you need to be able to make a slip stitch, single crochet, magic circle and how to decrease and increase. To turn your basic doll into Maya, I added aditional stitches, such as the double half crochet for you to try out!

I hope you like our Maya Doll as much as we do and that you give her a go!

This crochet pattern was made using a 2mm hook, though the yarn is suitable for 3 and 4mm hooks too. So you should be able to make it with these hooks and it should result in a slightly bigger doll. My stitches tend to be on the small side.

I used 6mm safety eyes. Again, if you use bigger hooks you may end up with a bigger doll and would maybe want bigger eyes too!

Different yarns can be used to make this doll. We love DK 100% cotton ones though.

I used four skein colors - a skin tone of choice, a hair color and three colors for the top, skirt and saree.

Print this crochet pattern “2 papes per print page” and both sides to save on paper and printing costs.

PS I am a teenager.. and all proceeds of this sale, go into my college fund!! I am so grateful for your support!
