Melaleuca blends textures and colours, with solid-colour garter stitch sections and inset multicoloured stocking stitch wedges that pleat inwards.

The construction is novel in that it is knitted sideways with short rows used to shape the stocking stitch sections.

It takes 3 balls of Noro Silk Garden Solo and 1 ball of Noro Silk Garden. This blend of silk, mohair and wool gives the scarf a luxurious feel and slight sheen.

Colours should be chosen so that the colour of the solid yarn is also found in the multi-coloured yarn. This ensures that the borders between sections blur in places, making for a seemingly more complex design.

The length of the scarf can easily be customized by casting on the appropriate number of stitches, as the pattern instructions are given relative to the edges.
