A very generous Ravelry friend sent me a large Godey’s Lady’s Book with knitting patterns in it. I’m naming this pattern after her. This 1852 stitch pattern was meant for a girl’s pelisse, a cloak-like outer garment with sleeves but this stitch pattern would make a wonderful cushy scarf or afghan.
There are just 2 pattern rows and any even number of stitches will work. You wrap the yarn around the working needle twice for all stitches except the first one in Row 1. In row 2, you knit together the second loop of a stitch with the first loop of the next stitch. I also held the second loop of the stitches in Row 2 with a finger to prevent that second loop from sliding off the nonworking needle while working the first loop.

Skills needed: cast on, knit, yarn over at beginning of a row, wrap yarn twice around needle (see notes), k2tog and bind off.

Gauge is not important in this pattern. Any block-able yarn/thread will work. Make a swatch to check gauge and appearance.
