This pattern is a unique mix of stranded colorwork and texture, working in a tube from bottom to top of the pattern. A provisional cast on and Kitchener stitch create a seamless, double-sided finish when folded in on itself.

This cowl is inspired by the bee and the value it provides our ecosystem. Centering on humble honey bees, bordered by pollinating flowers, the colorwork transitions into hexagonal repeats full of floral motifs. Texture balances the colorwork by bringing in the Honeycomb stitch for a super squishy finish, with single color Latvian braids visually breaking up each section.

Color Recommendations
This pattern works best with solid MC and CCs. If desired, more variegated yarns work best for CC.

Approx. Yardage
Exact yardage will differ depending on how you’ve chosen to combine your charts, between Bees and Honeycomb. For example, Bee charts require more main color due to the blank space around the bee.

Standard Height:
Main Color (MC):440 (575) yards 402 (526) m
Contrast Color (CC): 140 (175) yards 128 (160) m

Short Height:
Main Color (MC): 375 (485) yards 343 (443) m
Contrast Color (CC): 120 (145) yards 110 (133) m

Suggested Needles
US 3/3.25 mm or size needed to obtain gauge
24 (32) in 60 (80) cm circular needles

NOTE: To maintain consistent gauge through project, you may want to go down a needle size for honeycomb stich, which tends to be more stretchy than colorwork. Try swatching in both textures, if unsure.

Gauge
28 sts and 28 rows per 4 in 10 cm
Gauge is in colorwork after blocking

Notions
Stitch markers, scissors, tapestry needle, crochet hook and spare yarn for provisional cast on, spare needle of same size or smaller for Kitchener stitch
