This hat pattern features a slightly slouchy fit and a simple, yet interesting, diamond eyelet lace pattern alternated with stripes of stockinette. It uses fingering weight yarn and can be knit on double pointed needles or circular needles. The pattern is unisex and comes in three sizes to fit a variety of heads from child to adult.

Sizing: The pattern is available in three sizes: small, medium, and large. The small size is 16” around unstretched, the medium is 18”, and the large is 20”. 

Gauge: 26 sts and 32 rows = 4 inches in stockinette

Materials:

  • One skein of Mothy and the Squid Donegal Sock (example is shown in Caribbean Reef Squid)
  • One set of US 3 (3.25 mm) double pointed knitting needles
  • One 18” or smaller US 3 (3.25 mm) circular knitting needle (not needed if you are using dpns for the entire project)
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle
