NOTE: THIS USES KNITTING AND CROCHET

This is a 15-page PDF that details how to make a little dice bag with a crocheted base and knitted body that looks like a mermaid’s scales. It includes a table of contents, many photos of the project at all stages, and some suggestions and modifications you can include as you like. I describe three different sizes, with instructions for making an even larger bag.

I recommend heavy cotton for this project, but you can use any reasonably tough yarn that can be worked tightly.

Required knitting skills:
---knit (k)
---purl (p)
---slip stitch yarn front (ssyf)
---knitting in the round, on DPNs or using magic loop
---knit 2 together (k2tog)
---yarn over (yo)
---Butterfly stitch (B) - tutorial included

Required crochet skills:
---double crochet (dc)
---chain (ch)
---slip stitch (slst)
---magic circle technique

Suggested yarn: 1-2 skeins of Bernat Handicrafter 100% Cotton (medium weight - 4) depending on the chosen size, and additional yarn may be needed for larger bags

Suggested knitting needles: two sizes are required, 2mm DPNs/circulars and 4mm DPNs/circulars

Suggested crochet hook: 3.5mm
